Visitors can drive in the UAE using their home country driving license under these conditions:
- They need to be in the UAE on a valid visit or tourist visa.
- The driving license must match the country of residence indicated on their visa.
- They must hold a passport and a driving license from one country among the list below.
Special Notes for Certain Countries
Drivers from Japan, Turkey, Greece, and South Korea must present a translated version of their driving license, officially approved by their respective consulate or embassy.
UAE Residents
Once visitors obtain a UAE residency or an employment visa, they must get a UAE driving license to rent a car.
The process is easier for some nationalities as they can convert their foreign driving license into a UAE driving license to continue driving legally.
